Matthew
Tapscott played Hedwig in the sold out Winnipeg Fringe Festival
run of 'Hedwig And The Angry Inch' in July 2003.
Theatre experience prior to this includes playing Kevin in dance-rock
musical 'The Wave' (Manitoba Theatre Centre 2001 and MTC at the
Winnipeg Fringe Festival 2000), Laertes in 'Fortinbrasfor' (Needle
in a Hay Stack Productions at the Winnipeg Fringe Festival 1998)
and 1st Player in 'Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead' (independent
company at the Winnipeg Fringe Festival 1995).
During 1995-2002 Matthew toured North America and recorded three
albums as lead singer with the rock band 'Tequila Mockingbird'.
Matthew's education and training includes attending private lessons
and ensemble classes for violin with the Suzuki institute (1982-1993),
weekly classes at the Prairie Theatre Exchange (1988-1996) and theatre
training at the University of Winnipeg (1998-1999), as well as vocal
training with Therese Costes (1997-1998) and Alitcia Seaborn (2001-2002).
