Snow Pond Center for the Arts offers a summer youth camp experience through New England Music Camp, or NEMC. Serious music students ages 11-18 attend one or both summer sessions, taking private lessons and an individually structured schedule devoted to band, orchestra, jazz, and chorale. Afternoons are spent sailing, playing softball, tennis … a well rounded summer camp experience in central Maine’s Belgrade Lakes region. View our video to hear from other campers.
In 1937 New England Music Camp was established as a non-profit educational institution dedicated to the cultivation and refinement of musical skills in young people. Central to their philosophy is the support and development of the physical, emotional, and social well-being of young musicians. Continuing a 75 year tradition for families, instrumentalists and vocalists at New England Music Camp spend their mornings in four one-hour periods of music taught by a prestigious faculty of professional performers and educators.
Campers at New England Music Camp design their own schedules, choosing from a wide range of classes with an average 4:1 faculty to student ratio providing an environment rich in sharing and learning. The weekly schedule includes two one half-hour private lessons and participation in one or more of the major performing groups. Public performances take place on Saturdays and Sundays at 3pm at our outdoor amphitheater, Bowl in the Pines.
At NEMC, we believe that musical growth must be complemented by a balanced emphasis on recreation and the social development of each camper. Our students share great times and make lasting friendships during afternoon recreation and evening social activities.
