Macari's is one of my primary choices in music stores. Being a player of both stringed and wind instruments, I can spend hours in here pestering the staff by trying out their huge range of different instruments that they somehow manage to squeeze into that little shop. Downstairs you can find an affable collection of acoustic instruments, ranging for guitars, basses, and I even managed to find an odd little bass instrument that was traditionally used for mariachi bands.
Although upstairs there seems to be a little lack of electric guitars (which doesn't really bother me), there is a good selection of hollow bodied guitars, banjos, wind instruments, and even the odd sitar (as well as other rare and exciting treats) can be found from time to time. The staff are always helpful and polite here, and the always make sure to listen to your needs as a shopper. Macari's is well stocked up on instrument accessories, and often have deals on things like guitar strings and reeds... etc. So if you haven't visited the place before, be sure to check it out the next time you need to stock up on strings.
