Only three days to go to opening night!!
It's all been mad and manic over the past week, as Matt Tapscott and the crew moved into 'The Big Wig House' down in Brighton - where we will all be residing over the next three weeks. The house is currently crammed with costumes, makeup, lights, props, merchandise and wigs... and, more importantly of course, we are fully stocked up with alcohol. Food supplies seem to mainly consist of baked beans and curry sauces. Luckily much bleach, air freshener and toilet paper has also been purchased...
Arlea Ashcroft and Mike Wright flew in from Canada on Thursday - great to meet them at last - and on Friday we all attended the final Lick gig before the band 'mutate' into The Angry Inch. Everyone had a brilliant evening and much beer was consumed.... (thankfully we'd also stocked up on headache pills for the house). Here's a picture of us all after the gig:

On Saturday was more promotion, as we paraded Ms Hedwig and Yitzhak around the streets of Brighton and later became the centre of attention in The Amsterdam bar. Promotion photos can be found in the Atrocity Tour 'Making of Hedwig' Gallery
Sunday was our CD launch - an absolutely amazing night. Cheers and standing ovations from the audience and invited press, as Hedwig and her Angry Inch thrilled the crowd with a sneak preview of the songs from the show. Everyone was enthralled at Matt's performance as he told Hedwig's story - totally unscripted - in between the songs. The band got to wear full costume and makeup for the first time, which seemed to be a slightly traumatic experience for some... although it WAS spotted that a certain 'Inch' still had his eyeliner on the next day at rehearsal... (coming up with a pathetic excuse that he couldn't get it off... hmmmm, yeah right...)
Photos from the Seedy Launch can be found in the Atrocity Tour 'Gigs' Gallery
Ahead of us are three very long and busy days get in at the theatre, technical and dress rehearsals, as well as more street promotion and some radio interviews... (sleep, what's that then??), but everyone's on a high after the fantastic response to our CD launch night. We can't wait to get in there and perform the full show - it's gonna be fabulous!
Website updates may be few and far between from now on, owing to me living down in 'The Big Wig House' for the next three weeks... but I'll do my best.
Below are pictures of some of the shenanigans in the house so far...
See you all at the show!

Everyone scoffing ice cream in the living room

Andy looking ridiculous again...

Matt playing in the garden

Mike creating The Shroud of Hedwig

Hmmm... people sharing a bed already...?!

Ms Hedwig In Town
More promotion on the streets of Brighton on Saturday - and this time Ms Hedwig herself made an appearance! People stared, traffic stopped and jaws dropped as Ms Hedwig and her entourage (who were also wearing wigs and pink fluffy clothing) hit the streets, armed with flyers and a CD player booming out our new cast recording.
This time Lindsay came out with the best line: "Come and see the show - it's got less pussy than Cats!"
Here we all are in our full glory... (more photos are in The Making Of Hedwig Gallery)

"Glam Rock From Canada!!"
Shouted Matt at random people on the streets of Brighton yesterday, as we 'wigged up' to hand out Hedwig flyers all over town.
Big Wig's slightly disheveled green curly wig scared quite a few small children, although he did come out with the best sales pitch of the day - when asked for directions to a vegetarian restaurant he replied "I'm sorry, I don't know... but we DO have a vegetarian in our band. Come and see the show!"
Here's a couple of photos of us 'wigging up' beforehand and having a well earned coffee break at the end of the day with Alan (who runs our Brighthelm venue).

More photos from the day will be uploaded to the 'Making Of Hedwig' gallery soon.

Good Friday ?
Well it turned out to be just that as Stu, Steve, Matt & I (along with a list from Marcus) went back to Pete's (our sound engineer) to tweak the mixing of the CD once again and get to our final master - which has now left for production. We are now all really happy with what we've created and hope that all the HedHeads out there will enjoy our cast recording.
Now who was it that mentioned wasps ??

HEDWIG CAST CD
Nick, Steve, Lee, Matt & I were up till the early hours of this morning doing the final mixes around at Pete's (our sound engineer), twelve out of thirteen tracks are there, just leaving Pete to play with wicked little town (gnosis reprise) tomorrow before mastering on to cd.
Its a little louder...a little faster...than the original cast cd, and we have worked hard to try & capture the passion & energy of the piece that comes with a live show.
Shock'n'roll !!
